Medical Science Liaison Netherlands - Genecology

The Medical Science Liaison is a full-time medical position with mainly field-based (80 %) but also with an internal (20 %) focus.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

  • Builds relationships with Dutch key opinion leaders and provides critical windows of insight for the company into the Dutch market and competition: with a focus on UF, endometriosis, HRT and OC.
    The MSL engages in scientific discussions with Dutch Health Care Professionals (HCPs) on current topics related to the company’s disease area, pipeline or products in order to:
  • Help physicians take better informed diagnoses and treatment decisions
    • improve clinical practice and patient care, to identify new patient medical needs, …

  • Acts within the boundaries of local rules, guidelines, and regulations, as a liaison between HCPs, Clinical and Scientific External Experts, national guideline associations and the company.
    All in close interaction with the local and international medical team, the local sales team, and the marketing and regulatory affairs colleagues.
     

Responsibilities

  • Acts as external scientific resource manager. In a non-promotional context, exchanges detailed scientific data and engages in in-depth discussions (on scientific product or disease area)– on a peer-to-peer basis - with Dutch external clinical and non-clinical stakeholders (Physicians, Pharmacists, Hospital Managers, Board Members of Scientific Societies, and other stakeholders).
  • Develops relationships with external experts and HCPs within the Netherlands: more specifically the MSL NL will be the solid anchor for scientific pre-launch and launch of a new product where Dutch DMU’s on different levels will play a crucial role. In addition, the launch of a recently introduced product should be supported by working on new guidelines with KOLs
  • Responds to unsolicited questions raised by health care professionals about unapproved products or off-label uses of approved products
  • Through scientific interactions, gains valuable insights into treatment patterns and scientific activities in the therapeutic areas, and provides strategic input to the company Strategic and Medical Affairs Plan. Proactively exchanges information on ongoing trials
  • Provides guidance on which materials and data to use for scientific exchange on disease area related subjects and approved products
  • Communicates scientific (product and indication) data
  • Supports both the external and internal teams and colleagues, from marketing, field force and Key Account Management
  • Detects signals from external experts and translates these into local scientific engagement opportunities/threats for future growth/risks and performance of the company
  • Provides training for the sales teams in collaboration with the Medical Manager
  • Responsible for dedicated specialized products as described above and scientific input on fertility and HRT portfolio, manages specific medical projects, like study monitoring, development of scientific materials, etc.
  • Works in permanent close collaboration and alignment with the Medical Manager and integrates the Medical strategy and objectives in the Netherlands.
  • Reports directly to the Medical Manager
  • Strives to consistently uphold company’s core values. 

Profile

  • A medical or scientific master’s degree, preferably with a PhD, in biomedical sciences, medicine, pharmacy, bioengineering, or similar is required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as MSL within the pharmaceutical industry in the Netherlands
    • Experience in designated therapeutic area is a must/preferred (gynecology); experience in fertility is also beneficial.
  • Entrepreneurial and always customer oriented
  • able to work independently within area of responsibilities
    • responsible for The Netherlands
    • build up this new created function
    • hands on approach within a small organisation
  • high knowledge of decision-making processes
    • stakeholder management
    • for different types of Decision-Making Unit (hospitals, associations, ….)
  • strong communication-, presentation- and organizational skills
  • strong project management skills and able to prioritize
  • team player with strong interpersonal skills
    • NL-team: 2 KAM’s and 1 MSL
    • Medical Team: 1 Medical Manager and 1 MSL Belgium
  • able to work independently within area of responsibilities
  • meticulous and quality-minded
  • fluent in Dutch and English
  • advanced computer skills
  • owns a driver's license B
  • willing to travel all over the Netherlands (living preferably in the centre of the Netherlands) and at least twice a month to BNL-office Brussels.
    Congress and international meeting participation in agreement with line manager
