1. Clinical Specialist

Clinical Specialists have in-depth product expertise, are self-disciplined, and take accountability for supporting customers to ensure they’re getting the best out of the device. Working in various departments from radiology to oncology, and often in the operating theatre environment, Clinical Specialists are key players in MedTech.

Day-to-day activities

  • Building trusted long-term relationships with key clinical stakeholders and provisioning clinical support to customers.
  • Helping to develop business in existing accounts and assisting with converting new accounts.
  • Organising regular customer meetings and training sessions.
  • Contributing to the territory team as a whole meeting and exceeding targets and maximising opportunities (most Clinical Specialists don’t have their own personal sales targets, but are measured on other performance metrics).
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of complaints or technical issues.

Clinical Specialist skills & qualities:

  • Clinical knowledge and expertise are often highly desirable - this is dependent on the company or product in question, and the desired candidate profile can vary. Some organisations seek out former Nurses, for example, as their first-hand experience adds credibility with customers. 
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior technical proficiency with medical devices, software, or equipment can sometimes be a prerequisite, but in-depth training is always provided, and some companies also welcome applications from entry-level candidates.

2. Sales Specialists / Territory Managers

  • Using data and account strategies to understand customer needs and drive sales initiatives.
  • Building and nurturing lasting relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and presenting MedTech solutions.
  • Staying ahead of the competition by promoting the adoption of latest technologies.
  • Providing pricing and quotations, tendering for business in order to win contracts with individual hospitals or healthcare trusts

Skills & Experience

  • Communication skills.
  • Proficiency with sales tools to manage and track progress.
  • Sales expertise and prior medical device sales experience can be required by some companies, whilst others will consider entry-level candidates.
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures and products.

3. Biomedical Technician or Field Service Engineer

Biomedical Technicians or Field Service Engineers employ their technical expertise by collaborating with healthcare professionals to lead technical initiatives in medical device technology. IQVIA has opportunities available for permanent and contract positions in this field.

In their day-to-day, their skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and updating medical devices keep things operating smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Organising, testing, and updating medical devices.
  • Installing and configuring hardware, software, and network products.
  • Conducting routine checks and recoding data from product tests after installation and configuration.
  • Managing project timelines and customer requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Professional business acumen and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic software programming skills.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
