Position Title: Healthcare Development Manager (HDM)

Location: London & South East

DESCRIPTION

The Healthcare Development Manager (HDM) will lead the market access strategy within the geographic region. The HDM will be responsible for implementing the sales strategy by (a) building strong strategic relationships with key influencers within both CCGs and secondary care; (b) advocating initiatives that improve health outcomes while driving brand and category growth; (c) partnering with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of the plan.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To positively influence NHS prescription policies and behaviour, and achieve market share gains

  • Identify opportunities presented by the growth in the smoking cessation market and prioritise key health care accounts by business potential/ROI. Analyse results.
  • Map clinical influencers and devise the appropriate contact strategy. Influence third-party contacts to achieve results i.e. influence prescribing behaviour in the defined territory.
  • Develop relationships with NHS Key influencers/KOLs, and CCGs and provide them with expert advice (clinical, economic and health outcome data). Utilise available local data to inform and enhance customer conversations. Be able to run customer trainings to influence behaviour towards smoking cessation.
  • Transform national guidelines into local programmes.
  • Partner with the marketing team to ensure a thorough understanding of the brand strategy, and the complexities of the market.
  • Partner with the primary care professional field team to create synergies in the implementation of the strategy.
  • Implement the sales plan and meet the related KPIs as agreed by the line manager and individual.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Degree level or equivalent or suitable experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • ABPI Qualified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with operational management within the NHS and 5 years of pharmaceutical field sales experience.
  • Working knowledge of NHS influencers. Understanding of the complexity of the customer base and interaction between the NHS and the local institutions.
  • Experience of working with Senior Decision makers within the NHS to achieve business outcomes.
  • Senior Account Management experience in the pharmaceutical or other industry.

SKILLS

  • Influencing and negotiating skills are vital. The HDMs must be able to demonstrate competence in influencing a broad range of stakeholders through credible, clear and logical communication.  Furthermore she/he must be able to direct others with clarity.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems analytically, self-start workstreams, and build strong customer relationships.
  • Team player with a demonstrated ability in working collaboratively with cross functional teams.
  • Excellent MS Office skills are a must.
