5 ways you can celebrate World Well-being Week this year
World Well-being Week 2024 is just around the corner.
As an organisation with a passion for building a healthier world, our mission is not just confined to healthcare and medical sales, it also extends to promoting good well-being practices for our teams.
We’ve put together some ways you can celebrate World Well-being Week this year, but first, a bit of a look into its history.
What is World Well-being Week?
Held in the last week of June every year, World Well-being Week provides the chance for participants across the globe to celebrate different aspects of well-being.
Now in its fifth year, World Well-being Week focuses on coming together by promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being by emphasising community relations, environmental care, and empathic leadership. Many businesses now embrace the initiative too, providing space to celebrate their teams.
Read on to find out five ways you can celebrate this initiative, either individually or as part of your wider organisation.
1. Practice self-care
Some of the best ways to practice self-care come from prioritising your mental and physical well-being. How you do that depends on the things that you’re passionate about and what relaxes you - everyone’s different.
Whether you prefer unwinding with a good book, going for a relaxing trip or simply having a night in for yourself, you can do plenty for your well-being.
Looking after your well-being doesn’t just stop in your personal life. It extends into your working life too, that’s why we’ve put together some tips on keeping a separate work and home life, as well as some tips on maintaining a good work-life balance.
2. Random acts of kindness
Why not try a random act of kindness this World Well-being Week?
Making someone else’s day is a really fantastic way to spread well-being amongst your friends, family or colleagues. Even simple things like giving people compliments, smiling, or letting someone go in front of you in the queue can work wonders on brightening up someone’s mood.
At IQVIA, we care about our impact on the communities in which we work. With paid volunteer days, donation matching, and our environmental commitments, our teams lead the way in spreading kindness around.
3. Get active
Keeping active is certainly a natural mood booster and it’s one of the best things we can do for our well-being and mental health.
From boosting our self-esteem and confidence and reducing stress to increasing motivation and helping to calm the mind, exercise is one of the best ways to keep on top of your well-being.
There are also many ways to exercise from the comfort of your own home, whether it’s guided videos, yoga, or at-home equipment.
4. Try a digital declutter
Do you ever get overwhelmed by emails stacking up or the unused apps on your phone? If the answer is yes, maybe it’s time for a digital declutter.
Much like decluttering your physical space, digital decluttering can be freeing for your mental health.
Structuring your filing, managing your inboxes and closing all the open tabs on your browser are just a few of the ways you can go about digital decluttering.
5. Never be afraid to seek support
Always remember there’s no shame if you need to talk to someone about your mental health and well-being.
No matter if you’re confiding in loved ones, colleagues or therapists, having a supportive space to explore emotions, enhance self-awareness and, work on your resilience is a sure way for you to prioritise your mental health this World Well-being Week and beyond.
When you’re an IQVIAN you can take comfort in knowing we have mental health support and well-being programs to take care of our dedicated teams across the globe.
